Q. Does your software cover "this" specific area of my state?
A. We have received many questions asking if our program covers a specific demographic area within the State they live. Our program covers all 50 States in the USA and includes all known mineral commodities within each State. However, the specific commodity of your interest may not be found in the area you live or wish to search. What Mines and Minerals v1.0 gives you is, the ability to quickly research any area of a State for the commodity of your interest using the features and functions built into the program.

Q. I cannot download a map.

A. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. If you have a firewall you will need to allow M-N-M© access to the internet.

Note: If you receive a 'HTTP 404' error message the link to the map downloads may have changed.
Follow these steps to check the URL
1) on the menu click on Tools -> Properties, in the properties window that displays click on the 'General' Tab
2) At the bottom of this window locate the box that holds the URL for terraserver's mapping.
3) Make sure this link reads   http://terraserver-usa.com/GetImageArea.ashx?  exactly as shown without spaces.

Q. Why do some Overlay Maps appear to be In color?

A. The process of creating an Overlay Image only removes the "White colors" on the Topographical Map image. When the Topo image is placed over the Aerial image it may create a False Color picture. Should this occur, we recommend selecting separate images i.e. Topo / Aerial to view the site map.

Q. When I download a Map Image I get a "Fuzzy" Picture.

A. This is due to the fact that USGS / TerraServer-USA may not have that Map Image on file, or they may not have the 4 meter resolution image, from which M-N-M© downloads all Map Images. All is not lost! To locate the site, use the programs Coordinate Window to transfer the latitude and longitude to your GPS mapping application.

Q. I just Installed Mines And Minerals, when I start it for the first time I receive an error stating "Mines And Minerals has encountered an error and needs to shut down"

A. This is due to the installation of Windows XP SP2, this happens when the installation of the Microsoft Data Access Components failed to install correctly when your computer was last updated. Take these steps below to reinstall / repair the installation of MDAC 2.81

How to Repair MDAC 2.81 under Windows XP with SP2

1. Open the folder C:\Windows\inf and locate the file mdac.inf.
Note: Your Windows folder could be named differently, e.g. C:\WinXP
2. Right-click the file mdac.inf and click Install.
3. When prompted for a location, point to C:\Windows\servicepackfiles\i386
4. When prompted for the file handler.reg, either point to C:\Program files\Common files\System\msadc, or put the Windows XP CD (With SP2) in your CD-ROM drive. (You may receive "File not Found" errors, this is ok just click cancel and continue with the installation).
