The thought of
writing a software program that would be a beneficial research tool for the
recreational prospector and mining exploration firms was tossed back and
forth between us for many months prior to actually making a commitment to
the project.
The driving force that brought Mines and Minerals v1.0 to fruition was the
tremendous amount of research one needed to do in order to locate these
older mining sites. Many of the names and locations for these mines started
to disappear from topo maps available today. We also found that sifting
through information provided via the Internet was a struggle in itself. Our
goal became very clear, apply the "kiss" principle, and provide a product
that eliminates many of these research barriers.
From a programming standpoint the experience was there, to include Jeremy's
ten years as a consultant in website development and maintenance, industrial
control programming in various languages and robotics control programming,
and mine as a small businessman of fifteen years who currently provides
engineering detail drawings to steel fabricators in southern California.
Being the mining enthusiasts that we are, we anticipated the use our
software by mining exploration firms as a welcome research tool. With this
in mind, additional features were included to further their needs thus
improving the program for everyone. Many of these older 'past producing'
mineral properties have recently been core drilled i.e. the 'World Beater'
located in the Panamint Mountain range of California. The results of
the drilling program showed that the mineral resource hadn't 'played out',
it was there waiting to be rediscovered by today's modern exploration
methods.
Jeremy and myself are avid outdoorsman, who love trout fishing and camping
in secluded areas far away from the general fare offered in today's typical
weekend campground. We also enjoy exploring the hills and valleys where
mining played a very important role in the expansion and development of our
country.
My own awareness and knowledge of this history was sparked after my parents
moved to Colorado in 1959. I was a young pup with a very curious eye. On
weekend trips to such places as Blackhawk, Central City, Idaho Springs,
Leadville, Buena Vista, Cripple Creek and Gunnison just to name a few, I was
fascinated with what I saw. Milling operations were going on adjacent to the
roads we traveled, older inoperative dredges still floated in the waters not
far from the town of Breckenridge and the lumber mills in many of these
areas still had the cone shaped saw dust burners going full blast. On more
than one occasion my dad made the comment, "they haven't found the Mother
Lode yet". His words ring true today, it's still out there for all to find!
We want to hear from you, all inquires are welcome. Your suggestions and
comments, regardless of any negative overture, will be addressed. We
will provide the highest standard of product support to our customers and to
those of you that are interested or 'just checking us out'.
From Jeremy and myself, we wish you well. May your outdoor adventures always
be fulfilling!
